The SAT is a total of 180 minutes long of testing for Reading, Writing and Language, Math No Calculator, and Math Calculator Sections. There is also an optional 50 minute essay at the end. There are breaks administered in between the SAT sections.

There are two breaks on the SAT Exam, and one additional break for students taking the essay. The first break is 10 minutes long and occurs between the Reading and Writing section on the SAT.

The second break on the SAT is 5 minutes long and occurs between the Math No Calculator and Math Calculator sections.

Students take the SAT at different times, usually between their sophomore or junior year of high school. The SAT Math sections require students to have a working knowledge of Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Students should consider finishing these curriculums before taking their exam.
